Working for us
Ackworth School, a co-educational boarding and day school, was founded in 1779 by the Society of Friends (Quakers). It maintains its ethos and traditions and is still governed by the society although only a small minority of pupils and staff are from the Quaker tradition. The school is academically non-selective and provides an excellent range of facilities and extra-curricular opportunities. The school is a member of both HMC and SHMIS.
There are currently over 350 pupils in the senior school (aged 11-18) and 130 pupils in Coram House, the junior school (aged 3-11). Over 100 of the senior school are boarders. The school also has an international studies centre providing academic English language programmes. The school is set in beautiful grounds in the village of Ackworth. There are excellent transport links to nearby cities such as York, Leeds, Sheffield, Harrogate and Wakefield. The dales and the peak district are both just over one hour away.
The School currently employs two wardens who share the responsibility for the caretaking duties throughout the year providing ether primary or secondary cover to ensure that the site is supervised 24/7. This role comes with accommodation in order to provide this presence on site.
HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATOR
We are looking to recruit a Human Resources Administrator to support the HR Manager in providing a first class service in this all through school. The role would suit someone who has solid experience in HR administration and is able to provide some first line advice. High levels of compliance are essential in our sector so someone who has come from a highly compliant employer, though not necessarily education, would be an ideal match.
SPECIALIST LEARNING MENTORS
A number of opportunities have arisen for suitably qualified, enthusiastic and empathetic individuals to join a team supporting pupils on the autistic spectrum. Applicants must be qualified to at least NVQ 3 or Diploma level and have previous experience supporting learning for pupils with a diagnosis of autism or a related condition who require one to one support. The Resource is very much part of our Quaker ethos.
CORAM HOUSE TEACHER
Ackworth School is seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic class teacher for Coram House. Whilst the appointment is currently to a KS1 class, we rotate our teachers between the key stages at the beginning of each academic year in order to develop the experience of our staff and to fit with our cohorts. Teachers deliver lessons in both Key Stages.
