Working for us
Ackworth School, a co-educational boarding and day school, was founded in 1779 by the Society of Friends (Quakers). It maintains its ethos and traditions and is still governed by the society although only a small minority of pupils and staff are from the Quaker tradition. The school is academically non-selective and provides an excellent range of facilities and extra-curricular opportunities. The school is a member of both HMC and SHMIS.
There are currently over 350 pupils in the senior school (aged 11-18) and 130 pupils in Coram House, the junior school (aged 3-11). Over 100 of the senior school are boarders. The school also has an international studies centre providing academic English language programmes. The school is set in beautiful grounds in the village of Ackworth. There are excellent transport links to nearby cities such as York, Leeds, Sheffield, Harrogate and Wakefield. The dales and the peak district are both just over one hour away.
