Academic Life

First-class teaching is at the heart of any good school and Ackworth benefits greatly from the quality and experience of its teaching staff.

Our aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum based on the National Curriculum but taking advantage of the flexibility we enjoy as an independent school. We encourage students to make curriculum choices which suit them best and much advice and guidance is on offer to help them to do this.

There are students at Ackworth who are highly successful academically, achieving top grades and going on to some of the top universities in the country. We also have some students who achieve more modest results – but for them this is a huge triumph. We value all our students and encourage them to perform as highly as they can. This is only possible thanks to our dedicated teaching staff. It also reflects the fact that Ackworth is extremely well resourced. It has spacious, well-equipped Science laboratories, outstanding Art, Music and Drama facilties and a first-class Library. The Sports facilities are excellent and specialist ICT and Design and Technology facilities are well established.
