'Who is the most worthy of all Nobel Peace Prize Winners?' This was the question posed to some of our Year 6 pupils, as they took part in a Balloon Debate at The Mount School in York, as part of National Quaker Week. The pupils had to argue for their chosen candidate. William Michie, Beth Gabbitas and Olivia Upson began by arguing for Mother Teresa, followed by Gaby Armitage, Frances Whitaker-Hodson and Mollie Watson arguing for Nelson Mandela. Olivia Upson writes, 'It was really good working in a team, because it brought us together and we knew that we could rely on each other. It was fun to go out and represent the School. I really liked the way they spaced out the debating and everyone was so polite while we were speaking.'
Both teams put forward a well-researched and worthy argument, with the team for Nelson Mandela getting through to the next round and going on to the final, achieving second place overall.
