Entry Requirements

Entrance Examinations

Ackworth sets entrance examinations for entry into First to Third Years (Year 7 to Year 9). These consist of English, Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning papers. For those seeking entry into the First Year (Year 7), these are normally taken in January of the school year preceding entry to the School.

The examination results are considered together with school references, and parents are informed within a few days whether an offer can be made. For entry into the Second and Third Years, entrance examinations can be taken at a number of points throughout the school year. Admission to the Fourth Year (Year 10) operates in the same way, with the additional requirement of an interview to discuss the suitability and viability of GCSE option choices.
